Shining Threads

Front cover of Shining Threads compiled by Syed Abid Husain

From humble prayer gatherings and rented rooms to thriving masajid, schools, civic organizations, and centers of service, Maryland's Muslim community has been shaped by countless hands and faithful hearts.

Shining Threads preserves the inspiring stories of more than one hundred pioneers, educators, imams, physicians, volunteers, civic leaders, and community builders whose sacrifices helped establish a lasting Muslim presence across Maryland. Some led from the front; many served quietly, seeking neither recognition nor reward.

More than a collection of biographies, this book is a tribute to those who laid the foundations — and an invitation to future generations to honor their legacy, preserve their stories, and continue weaving new threads of faith and service into Maryland's history.
