Light That Never Fades: Imam Mutee Mulazim

Imam Mutee Mulazim had always moved with quiet determination, his presence like the steady flame of a lantern in the night. Years ago, he and his brethren roamed the streets near the Islamic Society of Baltimore, searching for a space, a home for their growing congregation. The buildings they toured were too small, too worn, too distant. But still, he pressed on, the dream nestled in his heart like a seed waiting to bloom.

Through perseverance and unwavering faith, the masjid became a reality. Imam Mutee stood at its heart, welcoming every soul with warmth and wisdom. He taught the young ones the beauty of their faith, instilled in them the values of kindness and humility. He counseled those burdened by life’s trials, offering words that felt like a balm to the weary.

Even in his final days, his voice remained steady, his spirit unshaken. And when the news of his passing spread on April 30, 2025, the community mourned—not just the loss of a leader, but of a father, a mentor, a friend.

That evening, as the congregation gathered for prayer, the masjid felt different. Yet, in the quiet moments between verses, his presence lingered—not in the walls, but in the hearts of those he had touched. His mission had never been about himself; it had always been about them. And so, his legacy lived on, in every lesson taught, in every prayer whispered, in every act of kindness carried forward.

May Allah accept his efforts and reward him many folds. Ameen.
