Since 1989, Hossam ElBoghdady has made the surroundings of Masjid Al-Rahmah in Baltimore his home—not only in residence, but in spirit. An Egyptian Muslim with a solid Islamic background, he brought with him not just professional skill in woodwork and design, but also a burning passion for serving his community.
His artistic hands shaped more than furniture; they shaped sacred spaces. The mehrab (محراب) and podium (منبر) of Masjid Al-Rahmah, beautifully crafted from wood, still stand as a testament to his skill and devotion. Every curve, every detail carries the sincerity of worship and the love of community.
Beyond craftsmanship, Hossam’s service shines in the warmth he brings to people. Through the Golden Age Village (GAV), he has been a steady presence for seniors—helping with weekend breakfasts, monthly dinners, and programs designed to raise awareness about health, diet, and well-being. He finds joy in creating gatherings that nourish both body and soul.
When others hesitate, Hossam takes the lead. Whether in organizing outdoor activities, planning educational sessions, or quietly visiting the sick and homebound, he lives the prophetic example of caring for those often forgotten. For him, no act of service is too small, no person too unimportant.
