The Banker with a Vision: Noman Farooqi

In the vibrant community of Columbia, Maryland, lives a man whose journey beautifully intertwines faith, intellect, and perseverance — Noman Farooqi, Vice President and Senior Business Banker at Capital One Bank.

An alumnus of NED University of Engineering and Technology, Karachi, graduating in Electrical Engineering in 1986, Noman represents a rare and inspiring combination of technical discipline and financial mastery. From designing electrical systems to designing strategies that help businesses grow, his path reflects adaptability, determination, and the courage to redefine one’s destiny.

When he first arrived in the United States, Noman carried the humility of a learner and the heart of a believer. Every challenge became a lesson; every milestone, a reminder of Allah’s promise. He often reflected on the Qur’anic verse:

“And that there is not for man except that [good] for which he strives.” (Surah An-Najm, 53:39)

Through tireless effort, honesty, and steadfast faith, he rose from modest beginnings to become one of Capital One’s trusted business leaders — a name synonymous with integrity, professionalism, and compassion. Clients often said, “When Noman talks about your finances, he speaks like a guardian, not a salesman.”

But beyond his professional excellence, Noman is known for his devotion to the Muslim community. A loyal and committed supporter of local Islamic organizations such as Dar Al-Taqwa and the Islamic Society of Baltimore (ISB), he believes that wealth, when purified through service, becomes a means of sadaqah jariyah — a continuous charity.

At home, his greatest treasure is his daughter, Misbah Farooqi — a reflection of his vision and values. A graduate of Columbia College of Columbia University (CC’21), Misbah made her mark as a journalist, writer, and editor-in-chief of The Paw Print. Her leadership as MSA President and recognition for excellence in advocacy, communication, and public policy stand as proud testaments to her upbringing.

Today, as a Senior Communications Manager, Misbah channels her passion into promoting justice, equity, and representation — echoing the same principles her father lives by. Where Noman empowers businesses and communities, Misbah empowers voices and ideas.

Together, they form a remarkable legacy — a father who built foundations of trust and faith, and a daughter who builds bridges of understanding and change.

Through every success, Noman Farooqi remains what he has always been — a humble believer, a visionary professional, and a steadfast supporter of the community he loves. His story reminds us that true wealth lies not in possessions, but in purpose, not in titles, but in trust.
