The history of Maryland Muslims does not belong to a single ethnicity, nationality, institution, organization, or generation. It belongs to the people who lived it.
Some built masajid. Some established schools. Some taught children. Some cared for patients. Some opened businesses. Some welcomed refugees and new immigrants. Some served the poor. Some organized communities. Some preserved documents and photographs.
And countless others simply showed up—week after week, year after year—to volunteer, contribute, pray, teach, cook, clean, mentor, organize, and serve.
Many became well known. Many more did not.
MCM exists to preserve both.
Because a community’s history is not measured only by its prominent leaders. It is also written through the quiet contributions of ordinary people whose collective service made extraordinary things possible.
